- It could very well be that you are overdriving the input of the Analog
- to Digital Converter by connecting the CD output directly to it. The
- Audio input of the sparc is set up to accept the fairly low level
- signal of a microphone, not the line level output of a CD player. You
- will need to attenuate the signal first.

- Another problem, is that the
- speaker inside the sparc is not exactly hi-fi, and SHOULD sound
- exactly like a five dollar transistor radio.

- As well, the 8 bit uLaw format will sound a bit noisy compared to a 16
- bit CD style audio system.

- I would guess that if you hook up reasonable bookshelf speakers, and
- make sure you are not driving the Audio In into clipping, that you
- could get a reasonable sound..
