- When I remove the secure entry from the console line in the ttytab file, or
- change secure to insecure, the workstation requires a password when
- booting single user. This is what I want it to do, but this also causes
- root logins on the console not to be allowed. Is there a way to have a
- password required upon a single user boot, but still allow root login
- on the console when up muli-user?
-
- You could set security-mode=command in the eeprom (on sparcstations
- anyway). You then need to supply a PROM password for any command
- at the prom except for straight booting. If a person attempts to
- boot single user, they will need to supply the PROM password. Then
- you can leave the "secure" entry for console in /etc/ttytab and
- root logins will be allowed.
