  14. I've noticed that if I logout from the console with xterm's still
  15. running, the /etc/utmp file does not seem to get updated correctly. In
  16. particular, even though I have no processes running on the machine, I
  17. still appear to be logged in (i.e., "finger", "who", "w" all report
  18. that I'm still logged in, though idle).

  20. A simple theory is that /etc/utmp does not get updated correctly when
  21. 4dwm exits (which signals the end of a session and kills off all
  22. active X clients, i.e. the xterms, via XKillClient). Is this the case?
  23. If so, is this a generic problem with XTerm, X or is it a bug in the
  24. release I'm running (IRIX 4.0.5, and /usr/lib/X11/xdm/xdm-config setup 
  25. with "DisplayManager._0.terminateServer: True").
