- I've noticed that if I logout from the console with xterm's still
- running, the /etc/utmp file does not seem to get updated correctly. In
- particular, even though I have no processes running on the machine, I
- still appear to be logged in (i.e., "finger", "who", "w" all report
- that I'm still logged in, though idle).
-
- A simple theory is that /etc/utmp does not get updated correctly when
- 4dwm exits (which signals the end of a session and kills off all
- active X clients, i.e. the xterms, via XKillClient). Is this the case?
- If so, is this a generic problem with XTerm, X or is it a bug in the
- release I'm running (IRIX 4.0.5, and /usr/lib/X11/xdm/xdm-config setup
- with "DisplayManager._0.terminateServer: True").
