- David Haight of Tektronix posts some very valid information. The
- reason for the cost difference between the Phaser II SX and PXi (and
- the Phaser III RX and PXi) is that on the SX and RX printers, the
- PostScript and SGI Image rendering is being done in software on the
- host. Only a bitmap is sent to the printer, and thus the printer can
- be much less expensive.

- As a side-effect, printing of complex PostScript and SGI Images can be
- MUCH faster, since SGI's CPUs are a lot faster than the AMD 29000's
- used in the PXi interpreters.
