SILICON GRAPHICS EXPANDS STRATEGIC RELATIONSHIP WITH TEKTRONIX
Silicon Graphics to Resell New Phaser III PXi Printer
MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA (July 22, 1991) Silicon Graphics Inc. (NYSE:SGI) announced
today that it has expanded its agreement with Tektronix to resell Tektronix's
line of Phaser* II and Phaser III printers, including the new Phaser III PXi.
As part of the agreement, Silicon Graphics will sell four color printers under
the Tektronix name: the Phaser II SX, the Phaser II PXi, the Phaser III RX and
the Phaser III PXi. The two companies have agreed to jointly develop color
matching software, matching the screen display to printer output.
The alliance will provide Silicon Graphics' users with high-performance,
high-quality printing products and the technology to print intricate screen
graphics onto paper. It also strengthens Silicon Graphics' printing support
for both PostScript and Raster Image files. The new Tektronix printers will
accept PostScript and Raster data, giving users flexibility when printing.

The Phaser II and Phaser III printers will be available through Silicon
Graphics' direct sales force and Silicon Graphics Software Express* at
1-800-800-SGI1 (7441). Pricing for the printers is $4,995 for the Phaser II
SX, $7,995 for the Phaser III RX, $7,995 for the Phaser II PXi and $9,995 for
the Phaser III PXi. International availability is through Silicon Graphics'
and Tektronix's international sales offices.
