- A colleague of mine wants to transfer files once a week from a
- PC to an Indigo. Since both machines were on the "net" this was
- relativley simple. Now he has been told that his University wants
- $20/month/machine for net connections which seem a bit much just
- for weekly file transfers. While I have never used it myself,
- I suggested that a SLIP connection might be useful alternative in
- this context.
-
- My colleague then had two questions which I couldn't directly answer.
- First, what PC implementation of "SLIP" do SGI users recommend?
- I have (and use) the Clarkson "CUTP/CUTE" public domain software
- which I believe can be used with SLIP, but like I said I have never
- used it with a serial line connection.
-
- Second, remembering that this would be a DIRECT connection (no modem)
- what's the likely maximum baud rate?
-
- Thanks.
