  20. 2.2.  2.1 only shipped on early crimsons (all 2.1's should have been upgraded
  21. to 2.2 long since).  2.2 does have problems, but all can be worked around
  22. in the kernel (2.1 required munging up some existing programs to make
  23. them work).  4.0.5 has fixes for all the known bugs but one, and 4.0.5C has
  24. a fix for that.  r4k indigos have 4.0.5D, and have all known r4k bugs worked
  25. around in software.

  27. This applies only to programs built with 'ld'.  Interpreters that build
  28. their own code and jump to it have to take precautions to not generate
  29. code that will trigger this problem.

  31. There is/was to be a rev 3.0 that fixed one of the bugs that a major software
  32. company didn't want to deal with, but that isn't a big deal.

  34. The R4000A is the next 'interesting' chip rev for most folks.
