- It is likely that /etc/TIMEZONE does not contain:

- TZ=CST6CDT

- If so, fix it, reboot the system, correct the time, and reboot the
- system. (There are short cuts, but let's not confuse someone who
- is already confused.)

- Another likely cause is that somehow you are trashing the TZ environment
- variable, whether in an shell start up script or otherwise.
