- I've been having an annoying problem getting the date and time set correctly on my
- IRIS. When I use date to set it, I end up with the time set correctly in the
- shell windows, but the time the x-applications see (like xclock, mailbox, etc.)
- is ca. 5 hours off. When I use datetime under sysadm to set the time the x
- applications and the mailer have the correct time, but the time called by date in
- the shell windows is ca. 5 hours off in the opposite direction.
-
- I have had some success by setting the time using both date and sysadm--now the
- correct time appears everywhere, EXCEPT IN THE MAILER! So all messages are sent
- at an apparent time 5 hours behind the actual time they are sent. Unfortunately,
- to get to this situation, I had to set the time both ways 5 hours earlier than the
- actual time, power off the machine, and restart.
-
- I'm in the CST/CDT time zone. If anyone can figure out this story problem and
- help me fix it I will be very grateful.
