- I and the owner of the machine are geting very frustrated so any help would
- be MOST sincerly appreciated.
-
- We have a 4D/80 which when we try to boot gives:
-
- "SC 0,1,0: cmd=0x28 unexpected info phase 46, state 49, resettng SCSI bus"
-
- Sometimes, but not often, after 40+ tries it will "catch" and boot. From
- then on the machine seems normal.
-
- Some history. The machine is under maintenance and the local folks have
- replaced literally everyting except the case, backplane and power supply.
- Some of the cables have been replaced. This all started about the time I
- put 4.0.1 on the machine. It has been upgraded from 4.0.1 to 4.0.4 and
- yesterday 4.0.5. Our local CE has spend alot of time with the factory
- trying to figure this out to no avail.
-
- If anyone can help shed some light on this I sure would like to hear from
- you. So as to not bore anybody all the particulars about the machine
- config and it's history are after my sig.
-
- Many thank's.

- Some particulars:
-
- The machine was a 4D/50 and has been upgraded to a 4D/80. Ran that way for
- almost a year ok. There is a second and unused ethernet card. It has GTX
- graphics (which is why we keep it), a 760mb. SCSI system disk and other than
- that nothing special. We did a copy of the entire disk to another 760 using
- sash. No errors were encountered and the second disk gave the same error
- messages as the original when we booted. This machine probably started
- life with IRIX 3.1. Sigh...
