  23.   The reason that inittab is updated(and the old copy moved to inittab.O) is
  24. that if you are upgrading from a 3.3 or earlier system to a 4.0.x system
  25. you need a new inittab.  If the old 3.3 inittab is left in place your system
  26. will not come up correctly.  Unfortunately there is no way to indicate
  27. to the installation software that a file should be updated or not based on
  28. the software release number of the old release.
