- I have been trying without success to connect a Seagate ST42100 (Wren 9)
- disk via the SCED SCSI bus on an S81 running PTX 1.3. The kernel finds
- the disk when it probes the bus at boot time and outputs a message
-
- WARNING: sd: not a supported embedded SCSI disk, target2, unit 0
-
- It then refuses to have anything to do with the disk.
-
- I have added the files /etc/diskinfo/wren9.{scsi,geom} and /etc/vtoc/wren9,
- but it still doesn't work. In desperation, I tried scanning /unix for the
- Product Code strings for the supported sd disks mentioned in the 1.3 release
- notes (CDC 94161 and Fujitsu M2249S). I can't find them, and am now even more
- confused.
-
- Can anyone tell me if it's possible to add third-party disks, or are you
- restricted to those supplied by Sequent? :-((
-
- Please reply direct to me, and I will summarise.
-
- Thanks.
