- The situation you describe, is my situation here at the University of Florida.
- Because we have a place on campus that depts can order computers/networks parts
- etc, alot of the red-tape is avoided. There is no bidding process. We consult,
- design and install all wiring/cards/software/accounts everything. All of the
- computers (servers/clients) are custom built to user's specs/or suggestions.
-
- If someone is in a rush we can custom build their server/clients and begin to have
- them in place in 2 weeks. A normal time for a smallish net (10 users) would be about 2 weeks
- to build computers/install wiring and 1 week to get everyone attached and running
- network apps.
-
- The various depts on campus pay us for services rendered, 'money' is transferred into
- our revenue account in case your wondering.
-
- hope this helps
