-
- All the X11 R5 binaries with the exception of the PEX demos will run without
- any problem under either the color or monochrome R4 Xnext servers ("mouse-X").
- Those servers are the ones that currently work with the original Cubes and
- color machines. The only change you need to make is to substitute the R4 fonts
- directory for the R5 one, i.e., move X11/lib/fonts to X11/lib/fonts-R5 and get
- a copy of the R4 fonts directory and put it in X11/lib.
-
- So, if you get the old server binaries, you can use the rest of the R5
- distribution as is. I run X on both our Cubes and our Turbos using the same
- set of binaries (except the server). I use symbolic links to get the font
- directories correct for the different machines.
-
- P.S. I believe the R5 server is being modified to run on all machines, but no
- completion date has been set.
