- International Money Orders are probably the best way to handle
- foreign payments when credit cards can't be used. The charges
- imposed by banks on out-of-country checks (even things like
- EuroCheques, which can be denominated in dollars) are simply
- outrageous.
-
- Its been a while since I got one, but I remember the procedure was
- something like: (1) find exchange rate in newspaper, (2) compute $
- equivalent of amount owed, (3) go to post office (4) wait half an
- hour in line :-( (4) buy Int'l money order for dollar amount, (5)
- send it to recipient, who can cash it at local post office for local
- currency equivalent. I believe the same should work in the other
- direction.
