  28. It's the drive.  In the beginning of its life, the Seagate 1480 (the 400 MB
  29. drive) had a lot of such reports.  People that complained loudly had their
  30. drives replaced.  As time went on, reports got fewer and fewer.  I had
  31. that happen on one of my machines.  It happened 4 or 5 times.  One time
  32. it went on for minutes so I shut the machine down, got a drink (a stiff one,
  33. I had done enough under the covers that the warranty wasn't going to do me
  34. any good) and started it up again.  I only heard that sound once more, and
  35. that was months ago.

  37. If it's really annoying get the drive swapped, but odds are it will happen
  38. very infrequently, and not do any harm.
