  16. They're not--the data on the CD-ROMs (which is where the files on that
  17. ftp site come from) are losslessly compressed.  The method is Huffman-
  18. coding pixel differences in the black-and-white images, and requires
  19. some real software to decode them.  I do plan to get the C code from the
  20. PDS (it's only about two buildings away--I work at JPL) and get it
  21. working on the NeXT, but I make no promises on when I'll do it.
