- I got a number of informative responses. One suggestion was to make
- sure that Large File System was not checked in Preferences -
- apparently this causes the Workspace to not spend the time to look
- through the passwd information in a large file system. This however
- was not my problem. What happened in my case is that somehow my home
- directory got changed to belong to root. I still had read write
- privileges, so I didn't notice. However, upon changing ownership back
- to myself the home directory icon appeared just like it was supposed
- to.
-
- The icons are stored in the Workspace app itself, by the way, so
- that's very unlikely to be the problem.
-
- Thanks to all who replied!
