- Banning commercial posts from csna would decrease the hype to info ratio
- also. But I recognise the need -especially for small companies- to get
- the word out about their products. This does not reduce the danger,
- however, that clever marketing people will abuse this medium which has a
- huge readership and costs almost nothing. I'd be much happier with a
- publicly accessible directory on an archive server, where product
- information could be retrieved. One could, then, restrict the
- announcements to just a line saying who released what and where to find
- more info. I agree that information with prices is much more useful, but
- that is not the *only* argument to be considered. Just because Usenet
- has been abused by several people in the past does not justify this
- behavior for the future.

- I don't see much point in supporting the advertisement of commercial
- packages on Usenet at all.
-
- I think that it is not such an easy topic to decide upon, and I
- certainly don't think this discussion is 'ridiculous', as the original
- poster (the one to whom I answered initially) put it.

- Have fun!
