  25. WarpItTM Image Manipulation Tool for NeXTTM computers begins shipping,
  26. MIDIapolis Systems and Black Adder Research announce distribution agreement

  28. MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota, August 4 1992 -- Black Adder Research announced today
  29. the release of WarpIt, an image manipulation application for NeXT computers.
  30. MIDIapolis Systems announced an agreement with Black Adder Research in which
  31. MIDIapolis Systems will distribute WarpIt through its dealers.
  32.     "WarpIt is a powerful image processing tool, the first of its kind
  33. on the NeXT platform", said William Rozzi, owner of Black Adder Research.
  34.     WarpIt allows users to perform animated transformations of digital
  35. images, similar to the morphing effects featured in recent videos and feature
  36. films. For example, an image of a person's face could be distorted over a
  37. series of frames to make their nose grow. The resulting sequence may be
  38. edited, played back, and saved as an animation file.
  39.     In addition to the non-linear mesh warp, WarpIt includes rotation,
  40. shear, perspective, mirroring, and scale change operations, all implemented
  41. using non-aliasing algorithms.
  42.     "It's another step towards establishing NeXT as a leader in the
  43. computer graphics world," said Gerard Schwarz, president of MIDIapolis
  44. Systems.
  45.     WarpIt is expected to be used in a large variety of fileds including
  46. graphic arts for photo correction and electronic caricatures, law enforcement
  47. for mug shots using composites of warped real images, multimedia for still
  48. graphics and animations, cartography for image registration, and for the 
  49. development of icons from real images.
  50.     Because NeXT workstations have built-in Display PostscriptTM, the
  51. user sees high-quality graphics on the screen and on the printer. More than
  52. any other computer, the NeXT computer provides true WYSIWIG (What you see is
  53. what you get) capabilities. WarpIt takes full advantage of these
  54. capabilities.
