- This is from Lon Poole's column in MacWorld August -92:
-
- (I hope I will be forgiven for quoting without permission)
-
- He quotes a letter from a reader, whow recommends the
- "Qualatext brand marbles, specificially "Premium Quality Marbles-
- The collector series", made by Pioneer Ballon Company, Wichita,
- Kansas, sold at many stores including "Toys R Us" and "Pay Less Drugs"
- He continues: "Choose a style with a smoth finish - the Meteors, Silvers,
- Cat's Eyes, or Pearls. The Galaxies, which have a pebbled surface, don't
- work well as trackballs. Qualatex marbels come in a net bag with 35
- marbles to play with (16 mm) and one shooter (25 mm) the right size to
- replace the PowerBook 100's trackball. The PowerBook 140 and 170
- requires a 30 mm marble, which Pioneer Balloon does not manufacture for
- retail sales."
- ... (Stuff deleted)
- "You may have to buy several bags of marbles to find one that
- works reliably."
-
- Myself, I took a marble from my childhood days and it fitted per-
- fectly! Sometimes it catches a little because of the "wrinkles" in the
- glass from the manucfacturing process, but I still like it...
