  24. Correction, my optimized version of ppmquant is 66% faster!  It is functionally
  25. equivalent to the original version.  On a 565k ppm file (generated from a 43k
  26. jpeg file), it took 417 seconds (6 min 57 sec) with the ORIGINAL version of
  27. ppmquant.  My version took 138 seconds (2 min 18 sec) on the same file.  (I
  28. probably could have saved a few more seconds if I took out the additional
  29. informational messages I added ;-).
