  52. My LC has occasionally had problems with sound:

  54.   - Startup sound is fine (too loud for my taste)
  55.   - Once up and running, beep sounds are silent or barely audible (much
  56. softer
  57.     than the "1" setting on the control panel. The menu bar never flashes.
  58.   - Setting the sound to max volume and back down usually fixes it (not
  59.     always). Other times a restart fixes it.

  61. I ruled out speaker contacts because the startup sound is always there. I

  63. looking for an init conflict, but couldn't reproduce the problem
