- Both the Impact Pro and MacRecorder are incompatible with the IIfx in
- normal operation. For better speed and performace, they attempt
- to access the serial hardware directly, which is different in the IIfx.
- The solution is to use the 'Serial Switch' 1.1 or later control panel,
- which flips a bit in PRAM from 'faster' to 'compatible' serial mode.
- SoundEdit (MacRecorder s/w) will tell you this if you try to run it on
- an fx in faster (default) mode.
- Serial Switch 1.1 is on ftp.apple.com in one of the comm directories
- (because the unique serial hardware also causes problems with routers
- and maybe fast modems). Don't use v1.0; it'll crash in System 7.
