- As I understand it TrueType is much like ATM in that if a bitmapped font
- of the correct size is available it will use that in preference because
- it doesn't need to image it and thus saves time.
- However if you choose an odd size: say 11pt then TrueType will do the
- scaling from it's outline font to give the best quality it can. Slows
- your machine significantly sometimes though.
- TrueType will only download it's outline to the printer if that font
- doesn't exist in the printer or the printer is non-postscript
- (truetype?). That's why the Stylewriter and Personal Laserwriter take
- 2mins plus to image a page. ie. the Mac has to do the page and font
- imaging in these cases because there is no processor in the printer.
- Completely false economy I reckon.
