- Drive: Fujitsu M2266S-512 (manfd. 12/91), 1Gig. Came out of VAX (I'm
- told), trying to make work with MacIIfx running System 7.0. The Mac
- has no problems addressing 2 other external drives (the IIfx SCSI
- terminator is used successfully). When the Fujitsu is plugged directly
- to the Mac (and externally terminated), it is visible, mountable, and
- works. There are problems reported from various software programs
- (soon described) before, and after some mods I made per a company who
- sets up large quantities of Fujitsu's (but who didn't sell this particular
- drive). I've set it up like:
- CNH1 pins 11&12 unjumped (the rest jumpered)
- CNH2 pins 11&12 and 15&16 unjumped (the rest jumpered)
- CNH3 pins 1&2, 3&4, and 11&12 JUMPERED (the rest UNJUMPERED)
- The problems reported are:
- Silverlining: status: disk error; in the timing loops: Mac hw&sw
- handshaking failure
- TimeDrive: latency access error -36 (I/O error), test skipped
- Norton: Vol Info Block error (Norton unable to fix); 186 Volume
- Bit Map (error) (Norton unable to fix); Driver descriptor Map on the
- selected drive undersized value of sbBlkCount! Repair is suggested
- (but repair doesnt' work).
- The SCSI Manager tests pass flawlessly, so I don't believe it is a SCSI
- problem (and we've tried with and without the SCSI terminator.) Any
- help with this would be appreciated, including what the Norton 186
- error means (it is not listed in manual), or Fujitsu's phone number,
- etc. Please reply direct. thanks
