- You updated(?!) to 7.1b7. Sorry, my friend, but 7.0.1 is the latest
- version of system software available to the general public. Is there an
- update(?!!) to make DD work with beta software? I wouldn't bet on it.

- <<minor flame>>
- Will all these people running BETA system software please stop whining
- when stuff stops working on their machine???? System 7.1 is not out
- yet. System 7.1b7 is a beta release. It's not even a golden beta
- release. Software firms are under no obligation to support beta system
- software.
-
- Unless you are beta testing your own software for upward compatibility
- with soon-to-be-released 7.1, you should not be running 7.1b7. Also,
- 7.1b7 was released to developers under a non-disclosure licence, so you
- should probably not be even writing this post.
-
- Back in 1989, I was part of a beta testing group. To test the program
- for "soon-to-be-released" system software, we were running our Macs with
- System 7.0a9 (Alpha version, folks). Needless to say, almost every
- program, including most of the included system software, bombed
- incessently. I did not go crying for "updated versions" of my software
- to run under an unreleased operating system.
-
- Please, deinstall 7.1b7 and stay with 7.0.x with Tuneup 1.1.1 unless
- you are testing software. And if you are testing software, that is all
- you should be doing with a beta system release, not writing theses and
- trying to be productive.
-
- Sheesh.

- over a year and a half removed from the final release and who thanked
- god when he went home and had system 6.0.5 running on his SE/30 without
- crashes every five minutes. he did however install the golden beta of
- 7.0 on his home computer, but that was about a week before the official
- release, and it was a golden beta.)
