- name is listed, use anonymous ftp.
-
- (Authors: if I've mangled or missed your product, contact, or ftp
- site, please let me know.)
-
- GLOSSARY
-
- IMAP - keeps you mail permanently on a "big" computer, but
- lets you access it over the internet.
- POP - Post Office Protocol; your mail waits on a "big" computer
- until your Mac picks it up.
- POP2 - The old version of POP.
- POP3 - The new version of POP.
- SMTP - Simple Mail Transfer Protocol; how mail gets around the Internet.
- Requires the machines that talk it to be up most of the time.
- UUCP - Unix to Unix CoPy. Dialup file transfer protocol; news and mail
- are normally layered on top of it. Used by sites without Internet
- connections.
- MacTCP - Software that lets a Mac speak to the Internet.

- Speaking as the author of one of the above (Eudora), I'd just like to
- personally offer to come out and install Eudora for you. You'd have
- to pay the airfare, of course. I think it would take about a week,
- maybe two. :-)
