-
- Um, why should you *need* documentation to use the operating system.
- Do you need documentation to drive your car? Use your imagination
- for a moment. Imagine a distant, far-off land where computers are
- more like cars than PCs. A land where you can turn on a computer
- and begin using it without ever opening a book. A land called...
- Macintosh.

- The answer is obvious, isn't it? Apple has no desire to make money --
- one look at their marketing strategy over the past eight years will
- confirm that. :-)

-
- Foreign-language scripts are OS components that allow Mac users to
- do word-processing in German or Russian or Japanese or Spanish using
- *any* word processor instead of requiring software that is specially
- written for a specific language. Ditto with your spreadsheet. When
- you use the German or British version of the operating system, the
- spreadsheet you bought in the US will automatically adjust to handle
- German or British currency conventions, dates, etc. Even the lowest
- of low-end Macs has this capability, which Microsoft and IBM have
- yet to match. Do I really need to lecture a European on how important
- this capability is?
