  26.    I have taken fonts & sounds in and out, and system size always reflects the 
  27.    alterations.  Also, check the extensions and control panels, as well as
  28.    apple menu items folder to make sure you have only what you want, and
  29.  
  30.    I have managed to create a wonderfully functional system with a variety
  31.    of fonts and sounds, and extensions I want for under 2 meg, and a version
  32.    that
  33.    fits on a HD floppy with room to spare.

  43. Wait!  Wait!  I don't think your system has expanded to 14 Meg. This is
  44. probably the most common FAQ on this group.  You need to turn on 32-bit
  45. addressing in the memory control panel.  Until you do, the Mac can only
  46. address approx. 8 Meg and the rest is _shown_ as being taken up by the
  47. system.  This is supposed to comfort you in knowing that the Mac knows
  48. it is there, but cannot use it.  It has only succeeded in confusing the
  49. hell out of many lucky (they can afford 12-20 Meg!) Mac users...
