- The latest prices I've seen are more like $1200 *without* the FPU and $1500
- with FPU. Has there been another price reduction I don't know about?
- Maybe by ordering the one without FPU and getting the FPU chip from
- somewhere else you could save some.
-
- Daystar is about to come out with a 33Mhz 68040 PowerCache, and I
- believe the '040 is a "real" '040 (i.e. with built-in FPU and MMU,
- unlike certain other '040 accelerators).
-
- The best part is that Daystar is offering a special deal to people who
- buy the 50Mhz 68030 PowerCache now. You can upgrade from the 50Mhz '030
- PowerCache with FPU for $99, and you can upgrade from the 50Mhz '030
- PowerCache without FPU for $399. That's supposed to be a savings of
- $300 off of the standard "difference in retail price" upgrade policy. I
- think the deal only applies to those who buy (not upgrade to) the 50Mhz
- '030 between the time the '040 was announced and when it is released.
-
- Those are all the details I have. I'm trying to find out more.
