- I have a dead 80MB Seagate drive.
-
- When the Mac tries to access the drive, it sounds like the drive
- slows down (that is, the operating sound dips in pitch--just like a
- motor with an increased load).
-
- My question is, can anyone tell from this symptom whether it's the
- drive mechanism itself or the box (power supply, etc.) that's gone
- south? (If I knew, I could buy either a new box or an internal
- drive.)
