- Classic II: NO general expansion slot; but special slot for FPU on a card
- (avail. for $70-100 from 3rd-party vendors); mono sound output (same signal
- to both left and right channels). Only up to 10MB RAM. Only runs System 7.
- (Hacked version of System 6.0.8, called 6.0.8L available outside US.)
-
- SE/30: processor-direct slot--great if you want external color monitor
- in addition to internal monitor. Stereo sound output (I think--I'm not
- sure what that means).
-
- Either machine can be connected to an ethernet, using an internal card (SE/30)
- or a SCSI-connected interface. You CAN add color to a Classic II using
- SCSI-connected video interfaces, but they cannot perform multimedia-type
- applications acceptably due to a limited bandwidth.
-
- Price is different: used SE/30: $1600-2000. new Classic II 80/4,
- academic price special through Oct. 15: $1000-1100, depending on your
- campus reseller.
