- I can help a little with this question. First, remember that there are a lot
- of 68000 cpu-based Macs out there operating as BBS's with high-speed modems on
- both ports. I have 14,400 baud modems on my Mac Plus, and beleive me, they
- really do go that fast!

- The problem with port read/write speeds is related to the software drivers you
- use. I understand that if you really want to go fast, you should avoid the
- COmmunications Tool Box (which I assume your software is relying on) and use
- custom-written code specifically for the task.
