- SOunds EXACTLY like my problems a couple years ago. I too had a 277n-1. I
- opened up the hard drive shell (which is quite well sealed) and monkeyed
- around with the mechanism. I've see service reps physically spin the platter
- to get it started - and then they recommend you do your backup and either
- trash it or have it rebuilt (which I did for about $175). I'd give this a
- shot. Just be real careful not to short or touch anything you don't have to.

- Also, keep dust off the platter for as long as you can. If you get it
- rebuilt, they won't care that you tampered with it. BTW - the 105 Quantum is
- a good choice. Avoid Seagate at ALL COSTS. Horrible company.
