  21. lot of features of my new Civic si, but if I had to (for whatever reason), I

  24. Wanting is not needing.  I suspect that if your wife were to sit herself down
  25. at a System 6 machine, she'd do just fine.  There's nothing wrong with System
  26. 6.  All the hoopla about System 7 sounds like so much Newspeak (prior to May
  27. 1990:  "System 6.0.7 is the absolute pinnacle of Mac System software.  Anyone
  28. using 6.0.5 is a dweeb.  6.0.7 is so great..."  Post-May 1990:  "Anyone using
  29. 6.0.7 is a dweeb.  System 6 is so useless.  System 7 is the only way to go.

  33. Having the latest just for the sake of having the latest is not, IMHO,
  34. necessarily a good way to live one's life.  (Many people _need_ the latest,
  35. for whatever reason, but that's OK.)  There are many people who don't need
  36. System 7 features, are getting along just fine without them.  A Mac Plus
  37. running System 5 and Word 3.02 was more than adequate back then; is it any
  38. less adequate for doing the same work today, just because System 7 and Word 5
  39. 0a are out now?  Nope.
