  11. I've been using a T4400SX for the last two weeks and have enjoyed it very much.
  12. The speed and processing power are superb, especially for running windows.
  13. Screen is excellent, and I have found the keyboard to be among the best I've
  14. ever used on a portable.  Connects very well to my VGA color monitor when I am
  15. at my desk.  Power saving features are great and the fax-modem I have installed
  16. is very useful to me.

  18. I have some quibbles.  The hinged access panel on the back is very flimsy; it
  19. was clearly going to break off if I didn't remove it first.  The keyboard is
  20. flat and the front of the machine does not taper toward the desk but drops
  21. straight down leading to some discomfort typing (at least for me).  The battery
  22. life is minimal in my opinion -- I get the 3 hours advertised but little more
  23. and sometimes barely that.  Other 486 laptops are superior.  Finally, the price
  24. is hefty.  I'm not certain that overall the Toshiba provides the best value per
  25. dollar.

  27. It is certainly more muscle than one would need for word processing alone --
  28. probably even if you did run windows.  I like to run Pagemaker, however, which
  29. it does with aplomb.  The portable trackballs are a very messy solution to the
  30. pointing problem.  Even if you find the performance satisfactory -- and I don't
  31. -- it is a nuisance to carry the machine about with a mouse sticking out the
  32. side and a cord running to the back.  The Powerbook offers a far more elegant
  33. solution.
