- I have a Toshiba T1100 Plus that has sat idle for quite a while. It
- still has the original battery pack. I turned it on recently and
- the "Low Battery" light comes on dimly and the machine will not boot.
- Nothing appears on the screen.
-
- Are my batteries hosed? Is there any way to run it with just the
- AC adapter? I opened it up and removed the battery pack and if
- I plug it in, no lights come on at all.
-
- Looking at the cable, the first 2 contacts are connected to red wires
- and both go to the positive (+) terminal (I assume since the wires
- are red.) The next 2 contacts have black wires coming from them
- and they both appear to go to the negative (-) side of the pack.
-
- My guess is that this redundant wiring is some sort of interlock
- to keep the machine from operating without a battery pack (or is
- it intended to minimize wire resistance?)
-
- The specs on the pack say 4.8 volts at 4000maH. I can build a new
- battery pack for $38 (4 batteries * $9.50.) Is it worth it or can
- I buy a new pack cheaper?
-
- Any/all suggestions/help appreciated.
