- Hello all,
-
- I'm sorry for the cross posts, but I can't remember where I got the
- answer from the first time! A month or so ago I wrote in about a
- problem with Win3.1 and WFW 2.0. One of the problems I was having
- was that any time I would run the dos prompt or any dos application
- I would get the following message:
-
- System Error
-
- Microchannel bus timeout error detected.
- System halted...
-
- I posted this (along with other problems) to these newsgroups and one
- of the responses I got told me to put a line in my win.ini or system.ini
- files that said something about MCAxxxxx=off or something like that.
- From what I remember (my system crashed shortly after that due to an
- unrelated problem and I lost everything!) it seemed to have done the
- trick. I think it got rid of the error. I am hoping to get someone to
- fill in the 'x' 's above. I'm using a PS/2 model 55. I would greatly
- appreciate it if someone could help me. Any other suggestions on this
- problem would also be appreciated.
-
- thanks a lot!
-
- Paul
