  24. Sounds like a problem I had with a dud serial line, what my problem was
  25. was horrendously simple, the screws on each side of the serial plug were
  26. interfering with the sitting of the plug, result no contact on a couple of
  27. the wires causing really bizarre, infrequant problems.  In regards to
  28. the midi cable, it has a weird y-adapter, doesn't it?  Check to see that no
  29. pins are bent/broken (that happened to my vga plug while trying to plug it in
  30. without turning the machine around...).  If it is not that, then there is
  31. either a problem in the card, a dud midi cable (have one of those too...) or
  32. the midi recive on you sound box might have a problem.  If you have (or can
  33. get) another midi box, try it out and see if the problem is still there.

  35. If none of these work (and they probably won't be any help) then I suggest
  36. buying a MPU 401 midi card.  I know they're expensive and are only a midi
  37. interface, but are better at midi because that is what they were designed for.

  44. This is interesting, makes it sound like a bad plug or midi line (the one
  45. that I have used at a friends place worked one day, and was dead the next).
