  12. We are assembling a brief guide for our users
  13. who have been using various mainframes or
  14. workstations, and wish to switch to a different
  15. machine. We are including some comparison tables
  16. on data representation on five workstations and 
  17. two mainframes, primarily for FORTRAN programmers
  18. (yes, they still exist!). I have been digging through the
  19. manuals, and I have not been able to find the
  20. following on the IBM workstation (we have Powerstation 340):

  22. 1. is bit storage bit alignment 0 to 31, right to left?        
  23. 2. is a character constant stored left to right or right to left?
