- The geometry you are getting is simply a translation from the number of
- blocks reported by the drive in a read capacity command.

- You MAY can get by with re-formatting the drive, but there is a
- possibility that the drive has a HUGE flaw map inside for some reason.
- I'm not familiar with that drive in particular, but the WD FASST2 card
- comes with some utilities from CDP that will let you compose and write
- SCSI commands. The best ticket maybe to download the TM from Maxtor's
- BBS, and send the appropriate mode commands and re-format from a low
- level utility.

- Alternately you can probably send it off somewhere. You could also have
- a bad platter/head in there that in fact GIVES you only half the disk.
