  17. The geometry you are getting is simply a translation from the number of
  18. blocks reported by the drive in a read capacity command.

  20. You MAY can get by with re-formatting the drive, but there is a
  21. possibility that the drive has a HUGE flaw map inside for some reason. 
  22. I'm not familiar with that drive in particular, but the WD FASST2 card
  23. comes with some utilities from CDP that will let you compose and write
  24. SCSI commands.  The best ticket maybe to download the TM from Maxtor's
  25. BBS, and send the appropriate mode commands and re-format from a low
  26. level utility.

  28. Alternately you can probably send it off somewhere.  You could also have
  29. a bad platter/head in there that in fact GIVES you only half the disk.
