I called Gateway as well. Here's what I got. The ATI Graphics
Ultra IS going to be a local bus card, however the machine itself
is putting the cart ahead of the horse. According to the rep that
I talked to, the 66 DX/2 hasn't been given to developers yet. She
said they were expecting a 20 - 50 day wait for the chip. Then
their motherboard has to undergo certification. I am assuming
that she meant FCC Class B, but I didn't ask. I had not heard
about the HD controller being local bus, but it does make sense.
I was quoted $2995 for the system, plus shipping. This was the
standard configuration (8 meg ram, 300+ meg hard disk, ATI local
bus video, tower case, 15 inc crystalscan monitor)
