I just called Gateway 2000 and asked about their new 66Mhz DX2 systems. I actually got a sale representative in less than FIVE minutes! Anyway this is the
scoop.... You can get a 66Mhz in EISA or ISA bus configurations but what has
almost got me sold is the 66Mhz ISA version ... Get this
for 3285.00 I can get this stuff:
66Mhs 486DX2
8 megs 70ns ram
3-1/4 + 5-1/2" floppy
340 meg 13 ms Ide hard drive
ATI graphics ultra
sound pretty standard right?
the bus contains two VESA standard local bus slots for the harddisk and video
and the card are local bus cards.
I also get the new telepath 14.4k modem/9600 bps fax and the 15" monitor.
Oh yea the monitor is standard on this system!
The DX2 has a heat sink which does NOT interfere with the other "8" Isa
slots and the burn in is done at the gteway warehouse.
3285.00 is thye price I was quoted for the computer, modem and shipping. the
modem is theonly 'extra' I am getting. all else is standard.
I'm a little skeptical about local bus and dx2 heat problems but for this price
I think I';m sold..........
