- I recently purchased a 486 motherboard (SIH 486B with cache on
- board) with AMI bios (1990 ?). I am having problems with warm
- reboot (software reset) usig Ctrl+Alt+Del.
- The processor on the board is 486DX/33Mhz. The machine
- has no problems with hardware reset. I have observed that
- software reset works during first few minute or so of first hard
- reboot of the day (the machine is powered off overnight). Also,
- the processor chip seems to be generating a lot of heat (in fact
- after 20 minutes or so the processor chip is scalding hot to
- touch). Is it conceivable that when the processor chip is hot
- the reset circuitry may be having problems with a software reset
- attempt? Is it normal for the 486 processor chip to be so hot?
- Is the motherboard defective? Please e-mail the response,
- thanks in advance.
