- I've got a question concerning increasing the Mhz-rate.
- What for is the quartz (for example 33.Mhz in a 486-33)
- responsible? Only for the CPU speed or also for other parts
- (chips) in the motherboard? So my question is: will there
- encounter no problem concerning the motherboard by
- increasing the Mhz-rate from 33 Mhz to say 50 Mhz?
-
- And then of course the second question:
- In a PC-magazine (unfortunately I can't remember wich it
- was) they wrote an article about using an ice-cap to
- tune the system. They suggestet to use an ice-cap for a
- 486/33 system and said that would allow to replace the
- 33 Mhz-quartz with a 50 Mhz-quartz. Is that really
- possible? Will the life-time of the CPU be reduced by
- that action or will there be no problem because of the
- newly built-in ice-cap? Would that be possible in every
- motherboard having the quartz on a socket?
-
- So would you agree to tune a system like this? (or not, why?)
-
-
- Thanks in advance
