- I have a 4D. Here is the history of me and the 4D.
-
- I got my first 4D. It worked fine, but the power switch finally broke in
- the ON position. Nec sent another (under warranty) to the dealer, and this
- one was DOA. Nec sent another one, and this is the one I've been using for
- about two years.
-
- The monitor is great. In 1024x768NI 70Hz, I can use the digital controls
- to extend the picture all the way to the edges of the screen. The mask
- is square and aligned properly, and there are no conversion problems.
- In short, there is nothing wrong with the monitor. My only complaint
- is that it takes too long to switch resolutions, and the picture
- becomes distorted for an instant during the switch.
-
- I would not recommend buying any monitor without testing THAT particular
- monitor, the very one you are going to take home. I think the quality
- control of monitors, even from good companys like Nec and Sony, is
- pretty bad. I know testing the monitor is not always possible, but
- I'd pay a few more bucks and buy it from a superstore that lets you
- do this instead of getting it mailorder.
-
- BTW, does anyone know if the 4D can do 1280x1024 or 1280x960 interlaced?
