- The format you did using the CMOS (Actually the BIOS) _is_ a low-level format.
- Unfortunately, low-level formatting an IDE drive is a Really Bad Idea. From
- the "Hard Drives International Reference Manual" (without permission):

- formatted at the factory, and will be seriously damaged if a low-
- level format is performed during installation.

- The only thing I could suggest is to call the manufacturer and see if you can
- send the drive back to them so they can re-format it for a reasonable amount of
- money. I don't think there's anything you can do to fix it yourself.
