- I know of some incompatibility of Stealth cards. When running the
- Japanese version of PC-DOS (called DOS/V) on a machine with a
- Stealth card you will get display problems. This was explained
- to me as being due to the fact that the Stealth was not 100%
- VGA compatible: The thing apparently rights to non-standard memory addresses
- that are usually (but not guaranteed!) to be free. If there's
- a conflict with your software that's usually the problem.
- I heard a rumor of a command line switch you can feed the driver
- in config.sys that will clear this up, but don't quote me; I'm
- not sure about it at all. When I heard of these problems I stayed
- away from Stealth cards at all costs. ATI cards are 100% VGA and
- I have never heard a report on a problem.
-
- Just as a test, you should try your hardware running DOS rather than
- OS/2. I bet the problems miraculously disappear. (IBM is unlikely to
- assume the worst: that your graphics card might be misbehaving,
- whereas DOS is probably sufficiently hacked up to somehow run anyway.)
