- "Long-promised SCSI-2 is already here, with products available from
- several manufacturers. But SCSI-2 probably isn't exactly what you
- suppose it to be. In its current form, SCSI-2 is mostly a software
- standard that mandates greater uniformity in the implementations of
- the command language used across the SCSI bus. In other words, SCSI-2
- will help match SCSI devices with host adapters."
-
- The article ("Choosing and using hard disks") goes on about optional,
- to-be-implemented varieties of SCSI, Fast and Wide, which as you
- probably guessed by now increase throughput by doubling the bus clock
- speed and bus width, respectively. Read the article for further (if
- rather general) information. You may also want to check out the
- article "The perfect PC" in July 1992 issue.
